HDMI Output After Windows 10 Update

I recently updated my operating system to Windows 10, and upon doing so I noticed that when I plug my laptop to the tv through a HDMI cable, there's no sound output to the tv. Picture is transfered just fine though. I've looked for many solutions and have tried most of them out but to no avail. Is it something to do with the Windows 10 update? ANy help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

HP 2511x monitor won't detect HDMI signal

My HP 2511x now has a problem in that it won't detect HDMI.  It is able to detect VGA, however.  Is it likely a hardware problem within the monitor?  Is it something I should have repaired or is this monitor a lost cause?

I purchased this monitor along with my desktop computer system from the Microcenter in Paterson, NJ in early 2013.

Audio Problem - Apple Earbud With Splitter Problems

Okay so I know that apple earbuds dont work without a splitter, so i got one. When i plug it in and try skype test call it doesnt seem to be recording anything. When i go to sound options and play music on my computer. I would hear the MUSIC on the headphones and also the microphone bar shoots up as if the sound is being used for the microphone. Im not sure what is the issue. I tried reinstalling realtek and changing settings. I have the LISTEN box unchecked as well.

So overall, the mic has a green check but my voice isnt being registered by the bar that shows the green depening on the insentity of sound. It only goes up when computer sounds are going off. I tried switching the plug and also using just one plug at a time and still no luck.

Do i have the wrong wire? is my motherboard / sound card not compatible?

Need Help. Thanks.

Win 10 update error: 0x8007001f install fail of IDT High Definition Audio Codec.

There is an 'x' on the little sound icon on the task bar and when I click it and run troubleshooter I get no joy. when I hover over the X it says 'No Audio Output Device is installed.

In Device Manager there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.

I've tried uninstall/reinstall of the driver but it doesn't work and it says 'hardware changes may not have been detected' 'fixed', but still no sound. I have been to HP site and tried the windows 8 and 8.1 versions but message says not compatible.

Most of the solutions are for windows 10 preview and don't work either.

I teach and really need this fixed asap if possible please it's my job on the line. No sound is a disaster.

Oh, when I instal a webcam the sound indicator things go up and down so maybe there is sound input but no sound output? I use headphones but nothing shows up in 'Playback Devices'

Thank you to anyone who can help someone with no clue.

Turn off Display after x mins idle power setting problem

I have an HP Pavilion TouchSmart 23-f340ea.  Its an all-in-one, so I dont have a button to switch off my monitor/display and I rely on the power settings to do this.  I have it set to switch off after 1 min idle.  I do this as I tend to leave the PC on a lot of the time downloading from the web and activing as a media server for my home.  I dont want the display to be on constantly using electricity and lighting the place up at night.  This has been working fine since I bought the PC a year and a half ago.

Just the other day I decided to go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10.  The upgrade process went smoothly and im generally happy with how my HP is performing on Windows 10 with one exception.  The switch off display setting no longer works!  No matter how long I leave the PC idling, the display never switches off.  I also found some apps online that can switch the display off manually when you click them.  When I try this, the display does switch off, but then just switches itself back on again after a few seconds.  Its like something the PC is doing is forcing the display on.  Literally nothing else has changed apart from the Windows 10 upgrade.

I have tried a few things like updating my display driver, disabling all devices in device manager from being able to wake the PC, running powercfg.exe to try and identify the process thats causing the issue. So far havnt been able to work it out.

If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated!  It may seem like a small issue, but it is actually making me think about going back to 8.1!

HP ENVY Recline 27-k309 external speakers

For anyone who went through the problem of getting their external speakers to work, here is how I did it.

First of all, your external speakers plug into the Headphone port, choose the headphone option.

Unless the cord comes directly from the subwoofer, then it plugs into the Sub port on the base.

Ensure all speaker cables are hooked up where they need to be and plugged into power.

Don't be surprised if the audio from your external speakers is very quiet - it is a common problem with the Beats Audio software.

I have been told, "Beats is software that sits on top of the IDT sound driver and controls it.  It locks down the driver, so you can't remove it's effects unless you find an alternative driver.  It also doesn't give you full control of your sound, as you can never turn it off even by clicking that check box for Beats Audio off in "listening experience"."

I have been advised by an HP person in chat that Beats Audio was only intended for the built in audio speaker, not for external speakers.

However, there is a way to get the sound a  bit louder and better defined.  This helped my computer somewhat.  It is also risk free.

1. Right click on the sound icon in the bottom right corner.

2. Click on Playback Devices

3. Click on Speakers

4. Click on Properties just beneath it

5. Click on the Advanced tab above

6. Choose the highest setting - 24 bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)

Apply and OK.

The current HP audio driver (as of Aug. 1, 2015) kills all sounds on my computer.  Feel free to try it though (if it doesn't work for you it can be uninstalled - search for Device Manager, click on the driver, and right click and Uninstall it).

I was advised that there is a somewhat riskier way to remove the Beats Audio sound controls.  I have not tried it yet, but here it is:

1) Press [Windows] + [X] on your keyboard and go to Device Manager

2) Go to Sound, video and game controllers

3) Click on IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

4) Click on the Driver tab

5) Click on Update Driver

6) Select Browse my computer for driver software

7) Select Let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer

8) Select High Definition Audio Device

9) Read the warning and click Yes if you understand the risk

10) Restart computer

When your computer restarts:

1) Click on the Volume Control (little speaker) on the bottom right of the task bar.

2) Click on Speakers

3) Click on Enhancements tab

4) If you don't know much about audio, and to help prevent speaker, headphone, ear damage, click on the Loudness Equalization and click Settings, then move the slider to 3/5 or 4/5 towards Long, then click on OK and Apply

Caution - it may be very loud.  You should also have Loudness Equalization activated.

If you decide you don't like the above, you can reverse it:

To reverse the fix, just repeat steps 1 - 5, but in Step 6, click on Search automatically for an updated driver.  The process should install the IDT drivers.

After you restart your computer, Beats Audio should be running again.

Upgraded to Windows 10 - Sub Woofer/Beats Audio No Longer Working

0
0

Hi, Just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10.  All seems to work fine except I no longer get sound out of my sub woofer and Beats Audio adjustments have no impact on sound.  I am using the IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver.  I thought I did something wrong so I reverted back to 8.1 and everything was working properly.    Ran the Windows 10 upgrade again with the same results, Sub Woofer and Beats Audio not working.  The On Board speakers work fine.  I also did some exploring on various forums and sound issues seem to be a common problem with Windows 10. I also tried the High Defintion Audio driver and that just caused additional issues, i.e. Beats Audio and the Sub Woofer disappeared from my system. Hoping someone has found a solution.  Thanks!
