HP Slimline Desktop 450-a114 to tv monitor?

My son just bought this desktop, and when we try to plug it in through the tv with an VGA to HDMI it doesnt' work.  His Dell laptop works using HDMI to HDMI.  The desktop does not have an HDMI connection.  Should I use the DVI to HDMI instead?  We don't have one of those cables.

Also, the keyboard and mouse are hit and miss when the system is on.  One minute the desktop will light up the next it goes out.

Any suggestions would be great!

Paul

Just purchased an HP All in One, Windows 10, and it has a reccuring problem.  "the HD video display driver has stopped responding and has recovered".  I have updated the drivers while speaking with HP support, however, the problem still exists.

Is the cause of the problem known?  Any suggestions for a possible fix?

Thank you.

HP w2207h Display with Windows 10 Cursor disappears on right side

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my HP Envy laptop. I have an HP w2207h monitor attached to it via the HDMI cable. The resolution is 1680 x 1050.

I made the upgrade through a message I got from the HP Support Assistant and followed the instructions (so no rouge upgrade).

If I use the "Duplicate these displays" setting" I get black bars on the left and right sides of the monitor (see attached image).  However, the cursor does not disappear with this setting but the black bars are not what I want.

If I use "Extend these displays" (as shown in the attached display settings image) the entire display surface is used but when I slide the cursor to the right side I lose it. I have to slide the mouse to the left and it finally appears. This is a major pain since I use my office apps in full screen and when I try to use the scroll bar on the left to scroll through documents I have to be VERY careful not to “slide over the edge”.

As far as I can tell, all the drivers have been updated. I also tried changing the resolution but that didn't work.

I have also attached a screen capture of the display settings option as well as all the options available for this display settings.

Any advice (short of telling me I need another monitor)?

Thanks!

all sound stopped

Hi

Pc came with Vista and a free upgrade to Win 7, I think in '09.

My external speakers stopped working a few months ago. There are 2 front USB ports that I often use for headphones.

One port started only working intermittently for my headphones but now doesn't work at all, the other was ok. Today the 2nd port also stopped working - at this point I have no sound. Both ports work with my flash drives. I connected the speakers to another pc and they are working fine. Windows, multimedia and speaker volume controls all work, none are muted.  Went to 'device manager' - and checked High definition audio device (Ver. 6.1.7600.16385), Realteck high definition audio (Ver. 6.0.1.5910) and the USB audio device(Ver. 6.1.7601.18208).

All say '...working properly', checked for driver updates - all are up to date.

Checked through HP's and Win's troubleshooting app's and they found nothing .

Something is not working right but I don't know what else to check.

Is there something else I can check ??

thx

11/12/15 Please advise how I can access the bar near the top of the screen that contains the copy

"File . . . Edit . . . ." which allows me to click on "File" and access print preview, etc.  The bar is usually

a yellowish color.   I do not see it on my new computer.  (Not sure if 32-bit is correct, but  I do have Windows 10.)

Thank you.

HP All-in-One 8300 computer Failed Video Palette test

I have a HP All-in-One computer that has failed the video test (video Pallette) in the UEIF Hardware Diagnostics the error code is UC2E33-0007RU-WPQEXG-Q2B803. I re-imaging the harddrive to try and fix it, but it would fail after it got to the video performance test after the setup. How would I go about correcting this error, could it be fixed with updates or is it a hardware issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No sound other than circuit noise on Pavilion p6 desktop

I am getting no PC sound on my Pavilion p6 Desktop PC (Win 8.1) from either the rear minijack socket (via speakers) or the front panel socket (headphones).  I am however hearing electronic noise (from hard drive etc. and even from mouse) from both sockets.   I have tried using them independently by connecting and testing one at a time.  I have worked through both the Windows and HP diagnostics/troubleshooting tools and re-installed the IDT driver(s) from HP ... all without success.  Device manager shows the IDT speakers/headphones in "Audio Inputs and Outputs" and shows the IDT High Definition codec in "Sound, video and game controllers".  All are show to be functioning correctly and to have the latest drivers.  Accessing "Playback Devices" from the sound icon in the systems tray shows that the headphones/speakers are enabled and that volume levels are sufficiently high.  In fact the volume mixer shows sound levels going up and down as would be expected but all that can actually be heard from speakers is electronic noise.  There have been no recent installations other than Important Windows Updates.  The PC was in use and working fine when this happened.  First the electronic noise became audible and then, after a reboot, the PC sound was lost.  The PC is less than 3 years old  and out of warranty.  Can anyone advise (please) ?
