We do video post production work with a 2010 Mac Pro. We are considering replacing the Mac Pro with a Z840.
We need to be able to monitor true surround sound (not pseudo or simulated) from DaVinci Resolve. The 2010 Mac Pro only outputs simulated surround.
We monitor the stereo mixing with Barefoot studio monitors (thru USB connection to a monitor controller), then will monitor the surround upmix using a Marantz SR7012 A/V receiver.
Questions Z840 users:
1. Will the Z840 output true surround, i.e., will it enable hearing the actual surround mix outputs (all 5.1 channels) from DaVinci Resolve?
2. How do I connect to the Marantz receiver? Quadro P6000 Display Port to HDMI cable to Marantz?

fn-b no longer turns on/off beats audio in win 7
the fn-b keypress does not turn beats audio on or off. The key combo no longer works. I found some reference to hpmsgsvc.exe, but this is not on my computer nor is the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Quick Launch\HPMSGSVC.exe. Is there any way to reinstall Beats audio or fix this problem?

Mic do not work
I have bought a desktop HP Pavilion 570 p031 and a monitor HP Elite Display E240C.
The monitor has 2 incorporated microphone.
I did connect the jack cable from the monitor to the pc but the computer can not find the MIC.

5.1 sound hardware
My new Pavilion says it is capable of 5.1 sound but I need hardware to achieve this. There is no reference in the very limited documentation which came with the computer telling me what I need or where to obtain it.

Muddy sound when recording through microphone
When I record myself practicing the guitar - acoustic solid top - the sound is muddy and has vibrato, as well as fading in and out. A bit like playing underwater.
Have tried various ways of affecting the way the mic records, but have had no success so far. Outside of the B&O audio software, there is no way to set it up to work fo me.
Upgraded drivers and all that. Pushed the gain, nothing.
Any thoughts?

Audio Issues after recent Windows 10 "creator" update

I'm so tempted to just try what I'm guessing is a driver link you gave the original poster, but I know that must be for their specific machine. Could you do the same for mine? The driver listed for my sound device on the HP support page is older than the one currently in my machine.

speaker output jacks are not on same signal
plug in external speakers to rear jack and external speakers work fine. Plug in headphones to front jack and get no sound plus external speakers are not silenced. Unplug external speakers from rear jack but headphones remain plugged in to front jack and sound goes to headphones. How do I get the two jacks, rear and front working so that when rear is engaged and front is engaged, the sound goes only to front jack. Remove front jack plug and sooung goes to rear jack. Every computer I have ever had works that way. Wish I could get this one working that way also.

I want to connect wired speakers to my HP Pavilion. I have 3 rear speaker connections, (1) Microphone connector or Center/Subwoofer out, (2) Front speaker connector (to front powered speakers or headphones), and (3) Line in Rear speakers out. Which ports do I use for 2 speakers (both wired to the same port or separately ?), and what size jack plug do I need ?

what type of blank CDs work to record music on the E drive
Recently I have run out of blank CDs to record music using my HP Media Center PC m1070n. The computer uses Microsoft Windows XP. I also have a separate Pioneer CD Burner component and it can ONLY USE Digital Audio Recordable CDs (because of the format).
Can you let me know what type of blank CDs to use to record, as the Digital Audio Recordable CDs I use in the Pioneer Burner do not work on The HP. Regular Music CDs also have a problem in the HP, as they will not copy a full 80 minutes of music from another CD. no sound from the Headphone socket on front of Desktop
I have recently purchased the above desktop and am having problems when listening to any Music eg itunes. if i listen to Itunes i normally just listen thru the speaker system with my green speaker cable inserted in the rear panel, with no problems. however when i try and use my HP Headphones, using the headphone socket on the front panel, i get nothing at all, the sound is completely nullified. Are there setting changes within Windows 10 i need to alter, if so where and how, pLease help.

HP Spectre headphone jack cannot maintain contacts
Headphones that work fine with other devices crackle, send sound to only one headphone at a time, or do not send sound at all. Will work fine with positioning but then goes out again with any minor movement of the laptop.
