Hi, sorry if this has been discussed before but i am absolutely new to forums.
I have had a macbook pro 13'' Mid 2009 model and have been using the HP w2207h moniter for the past five ish years using a VGA cable with a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. This has always been working fine.
However recently, i upgraded to a macbook pro 15'' Late 2013 model with OS Mavericks and tried to connect the HP moniter using an HDMI to HDMI cable and it seems not to work. An image appears on the HP for a split second and then the moniter turns black and seemingly shuts down. Only a pull of the power cable and replug seems to enable the Moniter to turn on again. Even though the moniter seems to have a black screen the Macbook pro can identify it in its system preferences and gives 4 display options: 1080p, 1080i, 720p or 1680 x 1050 of which none works since the moniter seemingly shuts itself off.
Does anyone have any ideas on this issue? I realize that the HP w2207h supplies drivers for windows operating systems only but i figured that i am connecting via a HDMI to HDMI cabe and the macbook pro also can identify it correctly as the w2207h. So don't really know what the problem is and i would appreciate any suggestions.
