I cannot get a good answer for required configuration to get true 10 bit input to my new DreamColor display.
The monitor lets me select 709, p3, AdobeRGB and the display changes appropriately, but it is not clear if I am getting 8 or 10 bit input over displayport. I am using several applications, but for one specific example Adobe CC Photoshop in 16 bit per color mode and AdobeRGB color space with DreamColor monitor also in AdobeRGB color space. (I also have daVinci Resolve 0/11, Adobe CC PRemiere, Speedgrade, FCP, etc.).
The monitor does not display bits on input. There are no errors, but elsewhere I have seen comments that:
No Apple product can support 10bits out regardless of configuration
Custom hardware that normally allows 10 bit output does not work with DreamColor because it does not output RGB progressive, etc.
Looking for some engineering facts not theoretical or hearsay.
If it only workes with a particular combination of MAC and/or external adapters - okay, but would like to see less expensive also if it provides acceptable 10bit input to DreamColor.
Want to use DaVinci or similar products to color grade. I might do a final review in a commercial grading studio, but I want to get as close as possible before that. Also need for photography where output will go to 10/12 bit calibrated printer.
Thanks,
Mike
