So I have had this problem come up every once in awhile over the last year or so (about once a month) ever since I installed my NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 graphics card. Straight to the point, my sound stops working. Usually the problem will be temporarily fixed by just rebooting the computer, but that has stopped solving the problem for I have been without sound for a couple days now. I am running Windows 7 64bit. I am about 99.9% positive that it is an conflict issue with the cards or drivers for I have tried almost everything I can think of. Everything on screen looks fine, it says all the drivers and devices are plugged in and working properly. I'll start with the obvious basics: yes the speakers are on and plugged in, I have tried other speakers and they do not work either, no the speakers are not on mute anywhere in my settings. Other fix attempts: yes I've downloaded all the driver updates, I have uninstalled and installed the drivers, I've plugged in headphones to see if that works (did not), I've system restored my computer to an earlier time when my speakers WERE working (no fix there), I've disabled and enabled the devices in Device Manager (nope), I've ran the troubleshooter for all devices. I'm probably forgetting a few other things I've tried but I have seriously tried everything I can think of. I have read through pages and pages of forums trying to find someone with a similar problem and tried many fixes with no luck. I have found people with similar problems but nothing the exact same, and obvious no fixes found. I am a big believer in the idea of there is always a fix somewhere when it comes to tech stuff, but this one has me starting to doubt that.
