no sound from laptop speakers

the only sound i can get is from my headphones not from the speakers

hp pavilion g6, windows XP.

i have no idea where to go and get to fix this problem i have tried to use add and remove hardware to see if that would fix the problem but nothing works.

i still have a little speaker down by the clock but it's only works with the headphones.
