HP Pavilion HPE h8-1114

Help,

I am trying to assist my sister in replacing the video card in her computer.

She has a Pavilion HPE h8-1114 running Win7.

Her current video card (OEM NVIDIA GeForce GT520) has a fan that is getting loud, and she thinks the card is starting to overheat.

She attempted to switch out the card with 2 different Radeon versions, but could not get the display to work at all.... She also replaced the Power Supply with a larger one (500w).

After some preliminary research, we thought the problem might be that she was going with a different family of video card.  So we went back and got an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640.

Now when the computer is powered up, we get to the HP Splash screen, but no further.  I can hear the HDD spinning up.  I even tried to boot using a Bootable HELIX disk, to no avail.

We ended up re-installing the original GeForce GT520 card and the computer booted as normal.  I am assuming it's a hardware issue as I'm not getting the OS to load for any drivers.

I did check the BIOS, and there did not seem to be anywhere to indicate a different Video Card.

Is there a list of compatible Video cards I can get for this machine?

Thanks in advance for and help.
