Instead of jumping to conclusions, please read this carefully.
My computer had this problem before. Shook the mouse one day, and the monitor didn't come on. It just said "Monitor going to Sleep." Furiously holding down buttons would only entice the message regarding "No Input Detected" before "Monitor going to Sleep" again. We took it to Best Buy, and they plugged a different monitor into our computer. Same result. So, they sent it off to have the motherboard replaced. That seemed to fix the problem.
Until now. Granted, it's been probably a year since we had the repair done. Today, I went to wake up my computer, and to my horror, "Monitor Going to Sleep." Enraged, I managed to get it to start up after unplugging the computer and letting it sit for a minute. I did a system restore, which took a million years and screwed up all my updates and was definitely not worth it. There's no telling how long it will take to coax my computer back to normal again. All I'm worried about is this:
Is that stupid message going to pop up again the next time my display shuts off? I've already got the screen to where it never sleeps, but the display is allowed to go off after an hour. Honestly, if HP expects me to replace my motherboard this often, I'm going to just burn it in my backyard.
Maybe worth mentioning that in my attempt to bring the monitor back on, the mouse and keyboard lights went out too. I had to unplug them and plug them back in to wake THEM up. So maybe the problem is the ports that everything is plugged into, including the monitor. Maybe that's why it has trouble detecting them. I don't know. It seems okay right now, but I will be very furious if this happens again. Is there ANY insight I can get regarding this problem?
I've read around, and everyone seems to reply "don't let your monitor go to sleep." Well that's stupid. I need a better solution.
