Hello,
I bought this PC way back in Nov 2010:
»HP Pavilion Elite HPE-350uk Desktop PC
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Product Number: XF657EA
It came with Nvidia GeForce GT320 graphics card. After a number of updates (over the past few years) the card crashes my computer: after short buzzing sound the monitor switches itself off, even though the PC is still on. I then have to force shut-down by pressing the "on" button, then go through the tedious process of recovery.
The problem started when playing Civ 5, but now it does happen occasionally even when no resource-hungry game is played.
I tried the usual tricks: uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, tweaking graphics settings, rolling back to older driver versions, etc., but nothing seems to work.
I've got two questions:
1. Is there a solution to this problem which does not involve getting a new graphics card? (I'm aware that the problem with Nvidia card playing up has been reported on many forums, but none of the solutions offered worked for me)
2. Failing that - which graphics card would be compatible with my PC's mother board - MS-76132 (Iona-GL8E) - and be a sensible upgrade that doesn't cost arm and leg?
Many thanks!
