I have a 22" flat screen HP monitor (w2207h). It came with a brand new HP desktop I bought back in 2009. Recently it's started giving me trouble. At first I thought it was solid black. After careful inspection I've realized it's not solid black.
The power button it solid blue. Since it's blue and not an orangish color that was telling me it was getting a signal. I have it plugged in to the VGA port of my HP laptop. When the issue first started to happen it was having trouble displaying anything.
Looking closely, I notice that I can still see what should be on the monitor but it's very dark. If I turn it off then back on or disconnect the VGA cable then reconnect the picture on the monitor comes back on full color and brightness as it should for about a second or so then goes back dark.
I talked to a friend of mine and they stated it could be the invertor board. I've searched on eBay and all that comes up is a power board. If that's not it then any suggestions would be appreciated. A power board is about $20. It's something I could change myself. I just want to make sure I buy the right part first.
