HP 2509m Monitor

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone would like replacement Backlight CCFL and/or Power/Inverter PCB.

My monitor had a bad solder joint on on of the LCD Display's two lower CCFL (Cold Cathode Florescent Lamp). I found that the CCFL Warehouse has replacement assemblies - top and bottom - for the LCD in my (this) display (an LG LM250WF1 TL A1). The two assemblies are listed for approximately $35. Not to bad. Alternatively they will repair the CCFL assemblies for you for about the same price, but you have to remove the CCFL's from the Display and send them in. This isn't for the non-technical.

I've also found a place that has a few ILPI-162 Power/Inverter PCBs. 17 'in stock' as I post this. Check Laptop DVD Drivers.

FYI - I have not yet cleared these sites, and do not know if they safe, or legitimate. So if you decide to try them please use caution and common sense. Also not that this post is dated, and anyone reviewing this post at a much later time may not find either of these sites available, or with any available stock.

I am also wondering what it will take to layout a replacement Power/Inverter PCB to fix my monitor. When I tried to fix the 'daughter' board that powers the backlights, some of the trace material (the electric carrying metal on the one side of the circuit board) became detached and broke in several places. I tried to fix it, but the replacement trace material didn't stick to well either. (This happened on both the daughter board and main board. The metal material seems to be similar to aluminum foil, not the copper that I am used to. Overheating of components, or using too hot of a soldering iron, can cause this 'delamination'.)

Since I have several programs that allow me to create Circuit board schematics and layouts, I am thinking of seeing what it would cost to get a few made. I don't think they will be very cheap, and am thinking that I'll reuse most of my original Power/Inverter board (ILPI-162 Rev B) parts. Depending on whether or not I actually follow thru on this, I may end up selling the few extras on eBay or somewhere like that. (No components, just the PCBs.)

I hope this can help those who have these monitors and know what an excellent monitor 'they can be' given the proper quality of parts.

And for the DIYers there are a few YouTube videos, the one I like is here.
