Hello,
My mother has a HP Compaq dc7700p small form factor desktop pc with a windows 7 home installation. Recently she bought a better monitor with a higher resolution. Soon after that the troubles started. The well known message that the intel grapgics driver for 'vista' has crashed and has been replaced by microsoft started coming more and more. In the end the PC wouldn't run more than 1 or 2 minutes without crashing the igfx driver. I had to disable the onboard intel graphics card and she now only has the onboard graphics. I have searched the internet for a solution but I only encountered a lot of people with the same problem, but no solution worked. I think the intel drivers work nicely on Vista but not on Win7. I am now fed up and think it might be better to get a pci or pci-e graphics card. But since it is a small form factor, size is of the essense, and maybe other issues are at play as well.
I am looking for someone who has placed a PCI or PCI-e graphics card in a dc7700p and can tell me what to look for.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
