Audio Problems with HP Envy 23-K030 and Windows *.1

I read all the threads on audio problems with the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and Windows 8.1

I get audio on my speakers ONLY and not the headphone jack.

I deinstalled rebooted and reinstalled the correct driver per this HP support web site for my machine.

no luck- same behavior.

The only thing that worked was de installing the IDT driver and using the generic Windows High definition device driver.

The headphone jack behaved properly and all worked ok.  However, I loose the BEATS audio panel and the features of the IDT board.   (higher quality sound- even with the built in speakers).

One interesting thing I noticed- when the Microsoft driver is used (and works) on the control panel for that device it shows the "left panel jack" on the configuration screen for the 'speakers'.  for the official IDT driver it shows 4 jacks- none of them say "left panel" There are rear panel and a front panel jack.    On the old driver that did not work it showed 'right panel' and there is no jack on the right panel.

I think the driver is simply wrong for this hardware. The driver is from 10/2013- It's looks like it is out of  date for this model ALL in ONE - only when it comes to using the headphone jack.

Is there a better driver out there (I cant' find one beyond 6.10.6486.0  or 6.10.6491  - both had the same issue.

I don't use my headphones often- rarely- last time I used them they worked. Now they don't- some auto update upset the balance of the force.

Any help would be appreciated. IF not- this is a problem that someone should look into.
