I Have An HP Envy20 Model #: 20-d113w

Product #: H3L41AAR#ABA

Serial #: [Personal Information Removed]

Software Build #: 13NA1AR8603#SABA#DABA

Service ID #: 20150406

PCBRAND #: HP

OS #: ML

Have had it since December 2013, with win 8.0, and had a working DVDRAM device even long after updating to 8.1.

Suddenly it quit.. Nothing seemed to work to repair it. As a last resort, I reset my PC to OUT OF THE box status. First the "reset" process did not do a thurough reste and I ended up having to repeat it. DVD is now recognized again by Machine but when I try to use it, it does not respond and wont run.

What is an average, so-so PC Literate supposed to do , short of paying a 0ne time $99 fee charge for a remote repair session to fix something that evidently is a HP product defect, since it is a HP Envy AIO machine with an HP DVDRAM GT80N drive.

(OK it do seem to have "something" to do with old faithful's (MICROSOFT) OS Win 8.0 and 8.1, but we all know what we can expect from them)

Do I need a CD DVD drive.? Of course! Do I have NO! And evidently neither do 100s and probably 1000s of others, based on the # forums and other sites that are loaded with questions and complaints about the same problem!

We need HP's help

Please help if you can.

Jack
