Second monitor setup

I bought HP Pavilion 500 (Intel Core i5-4590/1TB HDD/8GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 Graphics/Windows 8.1) and I conected all the cables to the ports at the back of computer. VGA port from computer to VGA at the back of monitor,

DVI form computer (using adaptor) to VGA port at the back of another monitor. I am trying to set up doual monitor .

But VGA from computer to VGA at the back of monitor does not work and the system doesnot recognize it.

How should i get the second monitor working.
