Hello!
First post for this new forum member.
I just received two refurbished HP LP 2475W monitors, and am wondering if I should return and exchange one of them, or not.
I'll be using them in a two-monitor set-up and would like them to be at least about equivalent in terms of display. Not surprising, out of the box they display completley differently.
They're connected to an HP Z800 workstation with the ATI FirePro V5700 graphics card via the dual DisplayPort connectors, set to "duplicate displays" so I have exactly the same thing on both monitors. I've tried switching the outputs and cables between monitors and get the same result on the same monitors, so the computer, graphics card and cables are not the issue.
"Monitor 1" :
- looks great - crisp, colors look right.
- has 8,000 hours on backlight lamp
- firmware version is GIG 075
"Monitor 2":
- is too bright and washed out - too 'yellowy' or 'orange-ish'. (Very technical terms, I know - I'm not a graphics guru.)
- has 28,000 hours on backlight lamp
- firmware version is GIG 045
Yes, counter-inuitive though it may seem, the monitor with the higher hours is the one that looks washed out. I've tried factory reset, with no change.
I have the option of returning one. So I guess the question is - is it the age and/or firmware of Monitor 2 that is the likely cause of the difference, and no amount of adjustment will fix it? Or is it likely I just need to fiddle with brightness, contrast, etc and they can probably be made nearly identical? And never mind Montor 2's advanced hours.
I know the backlight lamps are rated for 40,000 hours to half brightness - I could return Monitor 2 and roll the dice and see if I don't get a newer one in return.
All advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
