Problem Installing New Graphics Card

Purchased and installed MSI Radeon HD 6450 PCI-E 2.0 DirectX 11 UVD 3 graphics card.  Physical installation went smoothly.  I also installed the software/drivers. From my reading this card should work with my PC.  Shouldn't it?

Problem is that the monitor does not receive a signal from the card.  Other reading about my computer tells me that it will NOT recognize both the integrated graphics card and an add on graphics card and I read somewhere how to go in and disable the integrated card through the device manager.   I've checked it out and I can see how to do it, but . . .

Here are my concerns:

1.  Is that a viable way to solve the problem?

2.  If I disable the integrated graphics card wiill it automatically enable the new card?  If not, then how do I do that?

3.  If I disable the integrated graphics card, shut down, move the DVI cable to the new PCI graphics card, restart, and for some reason it does not work then I don't have a display, so how would I go back and reenable the integrated graphics card so that I have a display again when I don't have a monitor to look at?

I appreciate any and all help on this!!!
