HP monitor wont display full screen on desktop

I have a HP w2207h monitor and its currently malfunctioning.

When I first acquired it off of a friend, it worked perfectly fine. But one day my mom was using my computer and she pressed the auto adjust button apparently and it went from full screen, to the bottom of the desktop where the start menu button and clock are, being cut off and a black bar appearing at the top of the display about an inch wide.

My mouse is able to go past the bottom and select things, and when it boots up and sometimes while gaming, the screen goes full and it works perfectly fine.

But for the most part it is stuck like this, and have tried everything from a factory reset, to adjusting vertical position and what not and getting barely any where, to replugging the monitor and updating drivers.

Would really appreciate some help. Obviously I can manage for now and continue to use it but its annoying when i try to select the button at the bottom right where I can close out applications, plus gaming can be annoying too.

Thanks in advance. Computer specs are as followed if it helps:

Windows 7 64 bit

Default FOXCONN motherboard

AMD x4 II 810

8GB Ram

Nvidia gtx 480

1 tb HDD
