Like many others, I started having sound issues after a windows update. The sound issue continued to get worse, over the course of a month - right now it's noise, crackle, noise, crackle, silence. Please Help!
Computer Info:
HP ENVY TS 15 (E7Z34UA)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
Windows 8 64-bit
When I start the laptop, it shows new hardware connected, then disconnected, then connected, then disconnected, etc.
This usually continues a few dozen times before the sound finally stops all together. There's usually not enough time to read the "click here for more information" link, but I was able to catch a snippet of it once.
There is nothing plugged into my headset jack, so I'm not sure why it continues to register "new hardware". I feel like I've tired everything short of reformatting the computer to factory settings or stripping out the speakers and purchasing new hardware.
In addition to the basic troubleshooting, I've tried the following fixes:
- reset BIOs defaults
- Uninstalled / reinstalled sound drivers
- disabled Cool Sense
- ran a PC refresh
Any thoughts?
