Monitor going to sleep

Hi,  I want to know if anyone can help me with my problem. 

I  have an HP  monitor and hard drive I bought in 2011.  Its been working great until  when I recently moved. I turned on the computer and used it for a while, then about an hour later,  the sceen scrambled up and I was never able to get a good signal. It only says "Monitor going to sleep"  upon start up. I can not even get into windows.

Is there any fix for this?    

The monitor is an HP 2009m 
And the hardrive is  an HP Pavilion p6653w
