Hello. I have a Pavilion p6710f desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 - 64 bit, ALC888S-VD Integrated Codec (Realtek HD Audio Manager) for audio and an N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX motherboard with AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 3.00 GHz Processor and 4 GB RAM. DirectX 11.0 and the audio driver is 6.0.1.6196. I have recently switched to digital audio and am using a digital audio cable plugged into the orange digital audio output jack on the back of the CPU. The speakers worked great until I used headphones in the headphone jack on the front of the CPU. Once I removed the headphones, all sound from the speakers was lost. I checked the Realtek HD Audio Manager, the Sound and Playback options on the PC and all show that everything is working fine, but no sound is coming from the speakers. I've tried the solution in the audio manager where you click on the i (Information) button and deselect the radio button for 'Display icon in notification area' with no success (see screen shots below). The option to deselect the front panel does not show in my Realtek HD audio manager. I tried all possible configs of the two options to no avail. I have also tried upgrading the driver with no success. As you can see from the screen shots of the audio manager below, even setting the digital output as the default does not work. What else can I try to get this to work? Thank you for your time.
