HP Pavilion p6616f

Amd Phenom II 630 x4

6GB Ram

Motherboard:  N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)

Three SATA HD’s (750GB, 500GB, 250GB)

On board video: ATI Radeon 4200

Video ouput: DVI/VGA

Monitors: Acer S231HL 23” and HP 19”

OS:  win 7 HP 64-bit

My computer suddenly has no video output.  The computer starts, sometimes with video but most of the time there is no video, and the last few attempts there is no video.  When it does have video output it lasts somewhere around 5-15 minutes.  Then the monitor screens ‘scramble’ and I’m forced to shut down with the power button.

I purchased a new PCI-x16 Radeon HD 5450 graphics card (TigerDirect) and this does not have any output video either.  Can’t get to BIOS to change preference from onboard video because screens are black.

I thought that a discreet card would work even if there was an onboard video problem, but same problem.  No video output from computer.  Monitor message, “No Input Signal”

Can’t figure out why there is no video from either onboard video or the add in graphics card.

Disconnected all USB peripherals and two of the storage HD’s, still no luck.

I did get to a pre-boot screen that gave me an option of:

“start with windows repair” or “start window normally”

I selected start windows normally.

After I got to Accounts window, I shut down and tried add-in card.

Since then, I have NO video at all.

Both monitors work fine when hooked to other computers.

Any ideas are welcome!!
