Hello all,
I have a new(er) pc [Windows 7 Ultimate - 64-Bit - i5-3550 CPU @ 3.30 Ghz with 16 GB ram and a solid state drive]. Video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6450. I have a dual monitor setup at work (one is VGA and the other the using the DVI input - both plugged into the motherboard directly). I have no issues, viruses, or otheriwse any pc issues that I am aware of. BUT...on occasion, my main monitor will flicker off and then on again when I print. My printer is a Brother MFC-8480DN (Network ready). I have no printing issues or other "quirks" other than this occasional issue.
I have all items plugged into an APC battery backup Back-UPS ES 725 power strip. It has 8 total plugins and I use 6 total. It is also a newer UPS backup device and doesn't cause any other issue that I am aware of.
The reason I mention this is that when I print, the APC UPS battery backup will make a high pitch sound (as though it has lost power) for just a second...and then the monitor and all peripherals go off and then back on instantly. I belive the printer is causing some sort of 1-second power drain issue...but it isn't a consistent problem. I could have an "incident" and then re-print something with no issue. It can be a web-based print out or a document printout from a file.
I feel it is a power drain issue because the other monitor is plugged into a different power strip and doesn't flicker off. It is only those things plugged into the battery backup that turn off/on instantly.
Has any one else seen this issue? Thanks for any insight into this issue.
