I have a new HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100 laptop with Intel HD Graphics and Win 8.1. I have connected an HP w2408h external monitor via HDMI. The monitor is on a swivel stand which allows it to rotate into portrait mode. A previous laptop on Win7 supported this functionality just fine (using VGA) but I am unable to make this work now.
I have installed the latest HP My Display software for the monitor and I have updated the Intel graphics driver.
The monitor works fine in landscape mode and the HP My Display program recognizes the Auto-Pivot feature and it is enabled. The monitor's built-in menus do change orientation automatically, but I cannot get Windows or the driver to recognize the orientation change and rotate the display.
My concern is that the HDMI connection does not support communicating the monitor's orientation back to the graphics controller.
Any ideas?
