I have an HP Envy 700-210. Win 8.1 OS . I am trying to connect to a VIZIO 32 HDTV. The available port on the tower is a DVI.
I have connected to the VIZIO with a DVI to HDMI adapter. I can see mouse pointer movement. However, what I see on the VIZIO is not the same as the view on the PC monitor. On the VIZIO ,only the botton toolbar is visble with the left side icons.
NO other desk top icons are visible. Attempts to open a browser bring only a blink. Opening an EXCEL worksheet does result in the visual (shortcut?) of same ON the desktop , but I cannot open the worksheet.
The HP "sees" the VIZIO. The screen resolution is as recommended.
I have a partial connect? Why.

I am only to blame. BUT. C'mon HP. TONS of USB ports. No HDMI? ONE RGB?
