I have a desktop with Windows 7. For several years, I've had a sound icon in lower right corner. A day or so ago, it disappeared, along with the sound adjustments, even tho my Realtek speakers are indicated as working properly! Last setting on the monitor volume icon was at 2%, and even with Realtek speakers turned to as loud as they go, the sound won't go above 2% (assumption, since what I can hear is about the same as what I could hear when I had a volume icon). I haven't added or deleted any programs or updates. The customize notification icons shows Volume as "show icons and notifications." However, within the Control Panel to turn system icons on/off, the volume icon is grayed out and in off position, and I cannot get it to turn back on. Any ideas what's up with all this? Is more info needed to figure it out? I've no idea what to include or not include here, since I am not computer savvy, other than searching help, which I've already spent a lot of time doing (and don't even know if I'm asking the right question in help).
