No sound when using HDMI cable

$

Hi,

I have connected my device to my tv using an hdmi cable, I know the cable is working, I get no sound from the tv, only from the device. Having Googled the problem it appears that I should be able to adjust the HDMI settings. I can't, however, find any HDMI settings.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

Nick

Headphone jack broken in port

Hi. After some advice please. I have a broken headphone jack stuck in the desktop port. I need some advice on how to remove the broken jack or replace the port. If this is not possible how I can disable the headphone jack to restore external sound to the PC? Had a local chap look at it and said that the jack cannot be removed and to fix it would require a part that he cannot source as part of the motherboard?

Popping from left speaker

Popping noise from left speaker. Sometime after starting the computer, sometimes as long as an hour later (sometimes after using an application with sound), a popping noise will start coming from the left speaker in about 5 or 10-second intervals. For a moment, it cuts the sounds coming from that speaker. Sometimes with 4 or 5 second intervals of no poping. Sometimes poping every 2-seconds. This happens regardless of earphones being plugged in or not. Plugging in earphones diverts all regular sound to the earphones, except the left-speaker popping noise. Unplugging the earphones often stops the popping sound for a while; sometimes it won’t.

I see others are having the same problem, as shown on your HP Support Forum:

Can't access Beats with New Envy 27 es monitor

I just bought a new Envy 27es monitor and I cannot get the Beats function to work. The manual said that there is a Bets button on the underside of the monitor which there isn't. It also lists the 5 buttons (exluding Power) that are also there when there are only 4. My menu options do not match the manual and I cannot seem to get any sound out of the monitor.

I do not want to have to get additional speakers. The internal ones should be sufficient for my use if I could only get them to work.

HP I think you dropped the ball with this one.

No Sound with Audigy RX or Beats Insider Preview

As is so often the case with me, this scenario begins with everything working perfectly fine.  I was having no issues with the integrated Beats™ audio on my Pavilion 1414 running Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15601.rs2_release.170315-1424 so naturally, I felt compelled to improve things...

I installed a Creative Sounblaster Audigy 5/RX sound card, carefully following all the directions (which I faithfully do the first time I install something).  I disabled integrated sound via BIOS, removed/uninstalled the Beats™ software and then installed the sound card in the machine, turned it on and installed the full package (drivers and software) from the DVD that was included with the sound card, allowing at install the automatic update via internet.

Hooked up my Bose 2.1 sound system in the LINE OUT jack on the card itself as illustrated in the less-than-convenient Installation Guide  that starts out as 1 5x5 inch square that unfolds like a roadmap on steroids into a 3x4 FOOT poster, resigning myself to the fact that it would simply never be folded back to its original size and moving on with the task at hand: Sound with quality so high that any Audiophile like myself would be in heaven with the music I was about to play.

I loaded up my favorite Tina Turner song (who ELSE would one use for a sound card's maiden run!?), turned up the volume as I settled back in my chair and, with a deep cleansing sigh, I clicked PLAY...

and wait for it....

wait for it...

NOTHING.  Utter silence!

I tried every troubleshooting idea I could think of on my own, contacted the support team at Creative (from whom I am still waiting to hear), searched the internet and even tried a few random, "this will never work," ideas until I was exhausted and gave up 24 hours later.

So I uninstalled the card, and enabled the on-board audio from BIOS and after downloading the driver from HP Support, began to install the drivers for Beats™ which never completed--I'm guessing it's due to the pre-release version of my OS, but about halfway through the install process, I get an error saying that my OS doesn't meet the requirements for the driver which subsequently terminates, leaving me, as I am at this moment--now 49 hours later--in utter silence!

The only way I've been able to generate any sound whatsoever from my PC (aside from furious key-clicking and the occasional kick) has been to use the USB headset (Microsoft LIfechat 3000).

This morning, about 3 hours ago, I finally reset windows via Settings, effectively doing a clean install of the above referenced preview build of Windows 10 with the same (annoyingly quiet) results.

Ideally, I would like to be using the Audigy sound card and if anyone has suggestions for its successful operation I would greatly appreciate the assistance.  In its absence, I would like to go back to using the Beats™ platform but in lieu of this deafening silence I will settle quite happily on suggestions for getting ANY sound at all from this machine and my music collection.

How is 5.1 surround 'Supported' out of box?

I just purchased this computer, and am trying to figure out how to connect dolby 5.1 system to it... The box claims that surround sound is supported, but on the actual PC there are 2 headphone jacks, 1 in front and other in back, like any other PC.

How is surround supported if there are no connections for it?

What kind of 5.1 system can I purchase to connect to it?

Dual Sounds

On March 5, my computer went through a big Windows 10 update.  Now I have sound through both the internal speakers and the connected external speakers.  If I plug headphones in, I hear sound through them as well as the internal speakers.  I updated the audio driver but still have the same issue.

How can I control volume for in-device speaker? Another problem when I attach headphone with the screen, then both the headphone volume and in-device volume working at a time. When I attach headphone with the device, the device volume should be muted by default.

Is there any hardware audio controller in the device?

Bluetooth audio works 70% of the time.

I have an Envy 750-427C with built in Bluetooth running Windows 10 that I acquired a few months ago from Costco.  I have a UE  Boom Bluetooth speaker.  The problem is that about 30% of the time when I try to listen to audio, E.G. Itunes, VLC player, newsclips etc there is no sound even though the Boom is listed as paired & connected. However, usually after 5-10 minutes, the sound suddenly starts. When I check system hardware the Boom always plays the test sound. Just now I started a CBS News clip; silence for 10 min, then it suddenly started.. My last PC was also an Envy, a 700-147C  & it had the same problem (with the same speaker) but I figured the PC's Bluetooth was defective so I used wired speakers. Now I have it with the new PC too.   I don't want to go back to wired speakers. It's set to automatically disconnect after 5 min of non use. However, that's no guarentee that it will restart immediately.  it didn't for me recently.  LIke I said it usually works but when it doesn't it's a royal pain. What could be going on here?

Sound jumps or skipps

Thank you with the help that you gave on the other computer that I was working on for a friend of mine. I like to help people with their problems that they are having with their computers, I admit that I still have a lot to learn about them but I am thankful that there are forums like this on the web that I can turn to for help. I am now having a problem with the sound on this DELL Dim. 2400. It is a new install and everything works just fine except for the sound. When I listen to videos on line it jumps or skips if you know what I mean, as if it is trying to catch up, but it has two (2) gig of ram in it and it accepts it. I have downloaded all the drivers along with flash player, still does it? Does anyone have any suggestions; everything is original with this computer, no add-ons or upgrades, just the way as if you would buy it from the store, except for the re-format.
