The sound through the speakers i have is no better than sound you would get through a monitor. I have used these speakers on my previous computer, ( HP PRo 3500 series Mt running windows 7 pro. 32bit), and the sound was very good.

The sound is in stereo but flat, no seperation of bass, treble etc. These are the driver dtails, version: 8.65.186.52 dated 5/16/17. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

HP Pavilion 500-119ea Desktop PC - Creative PCIx Audigy RX - No Audio, please help!

Hello Folks,

What should be a 15 min job has turned into a big forray with this PC. Firstly the card was installed in 2 other desktops and had no problems. One with Win 10 pro x64, the other Windows 7x64.

I have this desktop - HP Pavilion 500-119ea. It came with Windows 8, without any video or other cards. Onboard audio was bad so now I am running Win7 X64. This is a fresh install with all drivers, chipset and display working correctly.

I installed a creative labs rx PCIx1 audio card into what are 3 availble smaller PCIx1 slots. I tried slot 1,2,3 and the x16 slot. I can not get any sound from the card. Tried every port on it with a few headphones, made sure the normal 'Speakers' was set as audio default, checked and triped checked volume levels in numerous area's of windows. I usually use Foobar and this frankly won't play audio files (any type) other media players will play but no audio. Once I see that Foobar2000 wasn't functioning I put this down soley to the HP desktop, what with it's bare bones bios there is not many options.

Obviously, The Winx64 is installed and setup correctly, the card is regonized and on screen all looks good. No problems in the device manager. The drivers are the lastest standand drivers from creative labs for x64 Windows, including 7.

I disabled the onboard audio in Bios setup, there are no onboard audio drivers installed. The device/bus options are all available.

On inspection, the spdif light is off on the card, trying to switch it on in windows makes no difference. It looks that the slots on this MSI made 'Jasmine' board seem to have no power?

Anyway I am currently at a loss, hoping some person has a solution. I updated to the lastest Bios available for the PC - which is:  80.51 Rev.A, Legacy support is switched on. I turned off Virtualization security option. Still no audio!

Thanks,

Thom.

No audio on Compaq dx2000MT after installing Windows 7 Pro

This message relates to my attempts at problem solving on my Compaq dx2000MT, s/n HUB44406CW. I realise it is well out of warranty (almost a museum piece by now!) but it serves my purpose very well although I’ve had to change the OS to Windows 7 Pro; Microsoft would not let me reactivate XP Pro.  Apart from the absence of Aero (no problem) it works fine but I had a few problems with drivers, mostly solved.

The remaining problem I have is a total absence of audio output following the change of OS from XP to Windows 7. Because the AC97 driver appeared to be missing I downloaded Realtek v 6.0.1.6305 and installed it. Device Manager says it’s working OK but I still don’t have any audio, either from the internal speaker or either of the 3.5mm jacks – this despite the Desktop icon showing audio present, it can be muted and indicated level changed.   Question: Is this the correct driver or which one should I be using?  HP Support doesn't list Windows 7 for this PC.

3-in-1 Diagnostics USB Key won’t work on my PC; is there any other diagnostic aid which would identify (and solve) this problem?

Any assistance will be welcomed.

I have never used the headphone jack to the left of this all-in-one. I would like a way to input audio and hear it on my computer's beats audio system. Or use a Windows App to record voice using an external microphone. This should be simple, right? But I am findiing it very hard to seup a microphone. Firstly, I am not sure if the input jack for microphone is the same as the headphone jack! Can you please help me to setup external microphone. I have tried but it says the IDT High Definition Audio is not availale for microphone. Also, when I run trouble shooter for microphone setup it says the microphone is not plugged in. Actually it is plugged in. Can you please help.

No sound from headphone jack

Hi, for a while I can't get any sound to come through my headphone jack in front on the CPU. I've tried two different sets of headphones that have a 3 pin connector. I think it's a driver issue because I can hear sound through the green Line Out located in the back of the computer with headphones and external speakers.

Troubleshooting steps that I've tried are: uninstalling and reinstalling the IDT High Definition CODEC driver, making sure "Speakers/Headphones" is the default device, ran the Sounds troubleshooter to fix the problem, ran the HP Diagnostics tool before startup and the audio test worked fine from the speakers and front headphone jack on CPU.

I did get a message about the "Generic Audio Driver" not working properly in the troubleshooter for audio with a yellow caution triangle. I was thinking about trying to update the BIOS but I didn't see a BIOS update on the drivers download page for my desktop model or resetting the BIOS to factory default.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this driver issue would be great. Thanks

System Information:

BIOS revision: JA2 v.80.46

BIOS date: 10/3/2013
