Hello Folks,
What should be a 15 min job has turned into a big forray with this PC. Firstly the card was installed in 2 other desktops and had no problems. One with Win 10 pro x64, the other Windows 7x64.
I have this desktop - HP Pavilion 500-119ea. It came with Windows 8, without any video or other cards. Onboard audio was bad so now I am running Win7 X64. This is a fresh install with all drivers, chipset and display working correctly.
I installed a creative labs rx PCIx1 audio card into what are 3 availble smaller PCIx1 slots. I tried slot 1,2,3 and the x16 slot. I can not get any sound from the card. Tried every port on it with a few headphones, made sure the normal 'Speakers' was set as audio default, checked and triped checked volume levels in numerous area's of windows. I usually use Foobar and this frankly won't play audio files (any type) other media players will play but no audio. Once I see that Foobar2000 wasn't functioning I put this down soley to the HP desktop, what with it's bare bones bios there is not many options.
Obviously, The Winx64 is installed and setup correctly, the card is regonized and on screen all looks good. No problems in the device manager. The drivers are the lastest standand drivers from creative labs for x64 Windows, including 7.
I disabled the onboard audio in Bios setup, there are no onboard audio drivers installed. The device/bus options are all available.
On inspection, the spdif light is off on the card, trying to switch it on in windows makes no difference. It looks that the slots on this MSI made 'Jasmine' board seem to have no power?
Anyway I am currently at a loss, hoping some person has a solution. I updated to the lastest Bios available for the PC - which is: 80.51 Rev.A, Legacy support is switched on. I turned off Virtualization security option. Still no audio!
Thanks,
Thom.
